Animal Science

College of Agriculture & Life Sciences

The Department of Animal Science offers dynamic and challenging undergraduate and graduate programs that cover a broad variety of fields including animal behavior, animal biotechnology, beef cattle, dairy science, equine science, food science and technology, meat science, physiology of reproduction, sheep and goats, and swine. There are currently almost 850 undergraduate students pursuing a degree in animal science at Texas A&M University preparing for a career in animal science.

The curricula in Animal Science are designed to prepare students for rewarding careers in animal business. This encompasses all areas, such as veterinary medicine and health related fields, as well as agribusiness. The millions of domestic animals that provide food, fiber, and recreation for humans and the increasing populations of exotic, pet, and companion animals offer an unlimited variety of career opportunities for animal science graduates. A wide array of internships give students invaluable experience in all phases of livestock production and related industries. Students can choose to follow the science or production/industry option within the curricula.
